Can be a big pain in the butt. That's what I'm working on doing right now. Editing, submissions, housework, laundry. lol Not to mention writing all the Thank Yous for the wedding. Yeah, it's a lot, but I'm not as busy as I was before the wedding, which is really nice. It's nice to have things back to normal, or at least to as normal as I ever am. =) I enjoy editing, and even when we were on our honeymoon, I kept wishing I had my computer so I could work. But the deal from the very conception of the honeymoon and where we went was that it was no phones and no computers. I did end up having to buy some word puzzle books, though, because just sitting there and watching TV and movies was getting boring for me.
Tomorrow I go back to work, which I'm so-so on. As much as I love being home, I need to get back into the swing of things. I'd love to be able to stay home all the time and have no evil day job, but that won't be happening for quite a while. =P Not until babies come...and no Misty, you're still gonna have to wait two or three years, so don't go looking at maternity clothes to dress a pregnant Barbie. I'm sure I'll have a bunch of stuff to do when I get there tomorrow, but most of my work was being covered while I was gone, so it won't be almost two weeks of stuff piled up, which is okay. Believe it or not, I hate it when I have nothing to do. I prefer it when I'm crazy busy, since it keeps me, well, busy and because it makes the day go by faster. =P

It is...
A decent day so far, even though I really didn't want to get out of bed this morning. That was pretty much hell on earth. =( Myles asked me to drive by the rental to see if they had done anything to it, since they were planning on having the majority of their stuff out yesterday, even though they have until Friday. They still have their non-working cars out on the curb though, and I suspect they still have the two in the garage. *sigh* Oh well, though. When Myles and I get their with our "crew" on Saturday morning, anything left in the house is going out the curb for the garbage, and any cars that are there are gone. I will be calling the police department and having them towed, because they are "abandoned vehicles. =)
After I checked out the Salem Street property I headed to Speedway to pick up a cheap cappucino. I'm used to it being a certain price, so I walked in there with my $1.17, and it turns out, it's gone up to $1.27. And I had no more money on me. So, as I left my coffee on the counter to go and get my credit card from my car, but the manager who I think may have a tad bit of a crush on me told me he'd take care of it and not to worry about it. =) How sweet of him.
Now I'm at work, and have been for an hour and a half, and I have managed to talk to my best friend on Gtalk, post some blogs, change up some stuff on my MySpace and look at some other random stuff. But, no "work" work has been done. =) Sweetness. Now I need to go through all the blogs I look at, which will take about an hour.
And last night was really nice. I actually didn't do ANY work (other than mopping the kitchen floor) and I sat around and read a book for pleasure. =) It was pretty nice. Then I went outside to play with the next door neighbor's puppy...a ten-week-old red and white border collie puppy named Dixie. Oh man, she is sooo cute! They're going to breed her in a couple of years, and it's looking like Myles and I are gonna take one of the puppies. =)
How's your day doing?

I love...
Editing. Yes, I adore it. I enjoy writing, too, but lately I've stopped writing and have just been concentrating on editing. Heck, I edit in my free time because I enjoy it so much. I even do it on my lunch hours at work. =P
I'm still working on turning editing into my one and only job. Considering the fact that I love it so much, that's probably a really good idea. =) Once Myles and I have kids, I pretty much refuse to work outside of the home. Hell, for the money I make at my day job right now, I'd be working to pay for a babysitter. And that's all my job would pay for. No exagerration.
I can't say it enough. I love editing and I love my authors. =) And Samhain is great to work for, too.

I've been a bad blogger...again
But, a lot of it was because I was sick for much of last week and then I was out of town all weekend. And I left all work at home. =) Now I'm back in the saddle and back in the swing of things, so I'll be much better.
I'm in a super good mood (right now) because I just offered a contract on a book. Cowboys and sex...yummy. I'm really excited to get started on it. I'll let y'all know more about it once I have the contract signed and in my hot little hands--figuratively speaking, of course. =)
All of my editing work is ahead of schedule and you know what that means? I might get some evenings to rest! Woo hoo! I'm going to start working on not working at all on the weekends, other than house stuff. I need to differentiate between work weeks and weekends more. I fall into the trap of sitting on the couch and editing all weekend, and that's no good. I need to be outside doing yardwork, going camping, getting stuff done...and not "working".
This weekend I'll be the maid of honor in my best friend's wedding on Saturday, hence the reason I will not be attending Lori Foster's event. *pout* And I so wanted to, since it's within driving distance from me. But, alas, the maid of honor duties have to take precedence. =P There's always another time to go to a gathering, but there's only one time I get to be in my best friend's wedding. Yes, this is me, trying not to be disappointed. LOL It's all good though.
Now, with four months to go, I'm going to have to get my butt in gear and get my own wedding stuff done. I've been a very, very bad bride.

Been in a funk
Yeah, I've kind of been in a funk lately, so I haven't been wanting to be very social, and that includes blogging. I'm starting to come out of it a bit, so I'm peeking out of my hole a little bit. ;P My day job has been horrid lately. I won't go into details, but it's just too busy and I've been really stressed. It feels a teeny bit better this week, so I'm hoping it'll continue on the upward trend. =)
Plus, it's looking like my brother won't be coming back for the wedding, as of right now. The Army is telling him that they're going to send the entire unit back at the same time...the beginning of August. No good! So, yeah, I'm pretty bummed about that. I only get to get married once, and I REALLY want my brother there. *sigh*
Okay, maybe I'll post something more joyful later or tomorrow. It ain't gonna happen right now.

Would all the rocket scientists in the room please stand up.
Yes, the subject line is my sarcasm regarding today. I feel like I'm surrounded by a bunch of morons. It's driving me nuts. Here's an example:
I work on the second floor of the building...which is the top floor. I overheard a guy ask a woman standing in front of the elevator "Are you going down?". Where the hell else would she be going? I mean, seriously man. what a friggin' genious.
I have nothing else to say today...I'm in "a mood".

A weekend full of...
...cleaning and editing. That's ALL I'm doing this weekend. I had two FLE's come back to me this week that I need to take a look at, a round of edits come back, and I have to do the first round of edits for another book. Yeah, my laptop and I are going to be cozy cozy this weekend. And then I'll have to put up with Myles complaining that while he's working on one of our rentals (new tenants move in next week), I get to sit at home on the couch. I just can't get him to see that I'm really working, not just sitting there surfing the net or playing around in a chatroom. Actually, I can't remember the last time I was in a chatroom. Do people even do that anymore? Last time I did was when I was in high school, I think. I could be wrong; it's been known to happen before, but not often, mind you. =P
And the cleaning. The house needs to be spotless by Sunday morning. Parents, brother and grandparents will be over for Easter dinner. It's the one holiday dinner I have...my mom and grandma have all the rest. And it's nice, because it's the one holiday a year that I don't have to travel for. Ahhhh, that's bliss.
So, here I am, at 3:07 on a Friday, waiting for my exciting weekend of editing and cleaning to start. Don't you all wish you could be me?

All I really want...
Is to go back to bed. I've been really tired in the mornings for some reason this week. Maybe it's remnants of the time change from last week, dunno. But it sucks. Plus, I'm stuck here at the crappy day job when all I really want to do is be home, getting caught up on edits and cleaning the house and doing laundry. Have I mentioned that I really don't like my day job? Yeah, I really don't like it. At all. Not even a little bit.
Okay, I'm done complaining. At least it's Wednesday and the work week is half over. Thank God.
I've got some of my family coming down from South Bend on Sunday for Easter dinner, so I've got to get it in gear and get the house looking poifect before they get here. I know, I know, it's only family, but still. It's how I am. =)

Sometimes I just don't get God
Today everyone in my work was called into an "emergency meeting". With the way things are at Purdue with a new president, ya never know what they're going to tell us. But, sadly, this had nothing to do with work.
One of our contract managers had something terrible happen in his family today. His son, AJ, who is 7 and in the second grade had an undetected, undiagnosed brain tumor rupture this morning. He was air-lifted to Riley Children's Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery. :( Chris and his wife has just left for Las Vegas for a business trip, so they weren't even round when it happened. Right now, they are probably still in the air, frantic to get home to their son. Chris emailed us this afternoon after our boss announced it to us and said the prognosis was grim. Needless to say, the attitude around the office this afternoon was very somber.
I just don't understand this type of thing. I believe in God, though I'll admit, I haven't been the most "faithful" in the past five years or so, but my belief has never waivered. But I just don't understand how such a "loving" God can let things like this happen to innocent children. And to a family that is very involved in their church. The boys attend the Christian school here, and the entire family are strong believers. I'm just really lost on this.
I know that anyone reading this doesn't know the family or AJ, but keep him and the family in your prayers. He's such a neat little kid.

Ah, being caught up
Wow, I'm practically caught up with everything and damn, does it feel good. I've got all the edits done that I should have done, I only have a couple of submissions to read and a couple of revise and resubmit letters to write. Yes, a big sigh of relief is in order. I'll be getting ahead, and I've gotten into the groove of things, so I'll be able to take on more...hopefully, please, Angie, please? =) I'm even caught up at my day job, which is something nice, too. I was getting behind since I was editing at work, but now I'm just reading subs here, but I'm all caught up on those practically. LOL Soon I'll be left with nothing to do. *gulp* Nah, that won't happen. There's ALWAYS something to do, but that's good. That's how I like it.
Offered a contract on a book I really like yesterday. It's got a sexy cello player in it and the imagery in the book is frickin' awesome. Really loved it a lot. I'm anxious to start working on it. Hopefully my revise and resubmits go well, because I really love those books, too. =) And tonight, I think I will take the night off...well, part of it at least, and head over to my best friend's house for her Lia Sophia Spring catalog open house. I'll spend some time with friends and get to see my Samantha, plus, it'll give Myles some time to rock out on his guitar without me around to tell him to shut the damn door and turn it down so I can work. :) It'll be a good night. And to top it off, I'll get to come home and cuddle up with Myles to watch American Idol. It's the top twelve now, baby!
Man, I'm in a good mood today.
I'm off to get some more work done. Have a great day, y'all!

Work work beer work work
That's pretty much what my weekend looks like. Oh, and some shopping tomorrow. I still have some Christmas gift certifcates left that I have to spend, and since we're going out tomorrow night I figured it'd be a perfect time to buy some new clothes. I've been out, but it's been ages since Myles and I were out together. I'm really looking forward to getting out tomorrow night. But other than going out tomorrow night, I'll be sitting here and getting editing done. :) And cleaning during breaks, of course. I've kept everything clean from last weekend, but since I'm a neat freak, there's always cleaning to be done. Right now, I think I'm going to take the evening to have a beer and relax in front of the TV before I start working my weekend away. :P

Playing hooky
Yeah, I'm playing hooky today. I woke up at about six this morning and just, well, didn't feel like going. And you know how that is. Once the idea is in your head, it's there and it ain't going anywhere. The only thing that put a kink in my plans is that Myles stayed home as well. *sigh* Except, he really doesn't feel good. So now I have to share the TV and I can't go get a bunch of Dairy Queen to pig out on. Grrrr. Right now he's sleeping so I've got the TV on HGTV and I'm putzing around on my computer writing some revise and resubmit letters, getting some edits done, and reading some submissions. Hmmm...I played hooky from work to work. LOL But I I love editing, so that's different then heading to my dayjob. It's hard to think of work as work when it's something you really love doing.

-25 Degrees
Yup, that's right. With the wind chill it is -25 degrees outside right now. Cold! I went from 80 and sunny to -25. No wonder Myles is is sick now. Really sick, poor guy. He's pretty miserable. At least I haven't gotten anything (knock on wood) but with the cold we're having right now I'm not holding out much hope. It's looking pretty bleak. =P
I'm also back to my "real" job, which sucks, because instead of the happy-go-lucky attitude we've always had, things are changing rapidly. Not a fun place to work anymore, but at least I'll be quitting or going down to 1/2 time in about a year, so that's not much longer to deal with the stuff that goes on here. I'm hoping I can last that long, though. And my performance review is tomorrow, which I totally don't understand, since we don't even get raises until June, so I'm kind of discombobulated about that one and why I am having one. It can't be bad...unless they somehow found out about all the editing I do here. LOL Then that might be bad for me. But I highly doubt that's the case.
Hope the weather is better for the rest of you!
