Awesome news...

I got really awesome news last night. My mom called me to tell me that my brother had left a message on their answering machine. Turns out, he ended up pushing and pushing until the higher-ups let him move his leave...he'll be at my wedding! I'm absolutely elated about this. For serious. Words cannot describe how happy I am that he'll be able to come home from Iraq and be at my wedding. I really don't think it would be the same without him there.

There's just something...

About a hot guy in dress slacks and a dress shirt with a gun at his hip. Yeah, that's hot. A total turn-on if you ask me. And you're really not asking me, but I'm telling you anyway. A hot guy with a guy is hot.

And in other news, here's something that drives me nuts...I only mention it because I have seen it three days in a row now that it has warmed up. People who mow their yards and "shoot" their grass out into the street, and people who blow their driveways and sidewalks into the street. Now, a caveat, of course...it's not that they're blowing or shooting it into the street...it's that they do it when cars are driving by. Yes, thank you, kind sir. I REALLY don't think I could make it through the day without you blowing your dirt and tiny pebbles all over my BLACK car. And thank, kind lady. I'm quite sure I wouldn't have been able to sleep tonight if you hadn't caught that rock with your mower blade and flung it at my car. I really needed that scratch on the side, considering I'm going to sell Ferguson the beginning of June. (Yes, I named my car Ferguson. Don't ask) I'm sure the potential new owner feels that the gouge left from the rock you chucked at me adds character.

Oooh, check it out!

I'm proud to say that one of my authors, T.A. Chase, has a book in the top ten bestseller list at My Bookstore and More. Woo hoo!

And the weekend is here again

I'm really pretty caught up on editing except for a few things, so I might actually be able to be a little lazy. =) That makes me wonderfully happy. Eh, or maybe I'll watch TV and work on wedding invitations, since those came in yesterday. Yippee! I"m starting to make progress and at getting stuff done and actually starting to get excited about it now that it's closer. We've been engaged for two years now! We decided we'd rather buy a bigger house before we got married, so, there you have it. So, here's a pic of the wedding invite.

Out of Bounds by T.A. Chase

I was really bad yesterday and didn't post about my new release yesterday. Eek. Bad Tera. I love this one and I can guarantee you will, too. =)

Can a sexy nightclub owner convince an all star basketball player to risk it all?
Love of Sports Book 1.
Professional basketball player Kasey Johnson makes a point of keeping his sexual preference under guard and out of the public eye. Empty, off-season flings are all he can look forward to until he retires. He figures his secret is safe—until he meets Ingram Fletcher, a nightclub owner who ignites a passionate inferno in his body.
Gram has lusted after Kasey ever since the long, tall basketball player was traded to Phoenix a year ago. But with Kasey’s twin brother running interference, up until now Gram’s been unsure if it’s safe to make a play. Then some incidental contact in the crowded club leads to a kiss that starts Gram wondering if a relationship is possible—now, and beyond March Madness.
A romantic weekend together answers that question. Now the only one remaining is if Kasey is ready make a fast break out of his comfort zone.

Ah, jury duty

I called up and had to show up to court this morning. I sat there until about ten while they questioned other jurors, and at ten, they announced they had chosen their jurors and I got to go home. Woo hoo! And since I already have the day off and it's not coming out of vacation or sick time, yeah, I'm staying here. =) I've already raked the leaves off the back patio and out of my flower garden. Came in to check my email and stuff, and I'll go back out and weed my flower garden. =) Then it should be all ready to go. Woo hoo! I think my best friend and her son are going to stop by this afternoon and we'll head over to Cold Stone, but that's about it for my plans. Oh, and working on editing. That's pretty much a given, though.

I just saw a commercial...

For the Subaru plant in Indiana. More specifically, it's here in Lafayette, a few miles down the road from my house. Matter of fact, at my old house, I could see it from my back yard. On the commercial, it talks about the clean air and blue herons. Um, anyone ever spent any amount of time here? No, not clean air. Sometimes it smells REALLY gross out. From Staley's/Tate & Lyle, where they make corn syrup. You cannot imagine how bad that smells. And blue herons...huh? I've lived in Indiana my entire life, and NEVER ONCE have I seen a blue heron here. I mean, seriously. They might be here, but I can guarantee you that if you go out the Subaru plant, you won't see a blue heron. So for those of you who believe everything you see on TV, don't. TV lies. =P

Earthquakes, wedding reception prices, and editing, oh my

Yeah, that's my version of the Wizard of Oz song today. =) Earthquakes, yup, had one, or maybe two, today. Not sure if the second one was an aftershock or if it was a second earthquake. We didn't feel the first one since it was a 5:30 this morning, and for those of you who really know me, I DON'T do 5:30 in the morning. =P Just doesn't happen...unless I'm still awake from the night before. LOL Which doesn't happen often anymore. But, the second one happened at about 11:00 when I was sitting at my desk at work. I could actually feel this one. It was enough to make everything shake, but nothing fell over. So yeah, that was pretty interesting today.

And wedding reception prices...holy shite! We got our quote...eight grand! No way. Not happening. First, the guy told us if we spend 4K in food and drink, we'd get the room for free. Well, we've have 4.7K in food and drink, and he's got 1600 for the room on there. So, yeah, that's not flying with me. Plus, he has down that we need, get this, EIGHT security guards at $35 an hour a pop, for a five-hour reception. They're kidding, right? Who do I look like? Madonna? Again, not happening. It's reception with 150 people max, no way eight security guards are needed.

And editing, right now I'm working my butt off to get a bunch of stuff done since I'm heading to the Bend in the morning and won't be home until Sunday afternoon. I'll be doing wedding dress and mother of the bride dress stuff with my mom and spending time with Mom, Dad, and little bro. It'll be fun. I'm looking forward to a whole day and a half of doing absolutely nothing work related...for any of my jobs. =)

Hope everyone else has a great weekend!

Wedding wedding wedding and more wedding

I am completely inundated with wedding stuff. Not only do I have my wedding, but my best friend it getting married on June 7. So right now, it's both, and I'm the maid of honor in hers. So yeah, lots to do with helping her and getting my stuff done, but she's maid it easy on me. It's her second marriage, so she doesn't want a shower or a bachelorette party or anything. She was adamant about it, so, okay, none for her. =P I, however, will be having all of that.

I actually broke down and bought a notebook to keep with me where I am writing all the wedding stuff down. Ugh. Currently, it's only serving to remind me of how much I have to do. But it's all good, it'll get there. Right now my biggest woe is my wedding dress. When I bought it, I planned on losing fifteen pounds and getting back down to 120...nope, hasn't happened. So now I need a bigger dress so that I don't have to stress about weight. (Less stress is good right now!) But, alas, it looks like my dress has been discontinued. Everyone said I was retarded for getting it two years early, and yes, I was. But I can't go back and change it now. I just gotta deal with it. I'm going up to South Bend on Saturday to see what I need to do. They may have extras of my dress in a larger size, or I can always trade it in for another dress. I love my dress, so I don't want to trade it in for another style, but I'm sure I'll survive if I have to. I think, really I do, that life will indeed continue to keep on going on.

So yeah, I'm still stressed, but at least I'm feeling better about everything now. I'm trying to be more positive, which is actually amazing for me. I'll check in later or tomorrow with some rambling other than my wedding. =) But, man, it's coming fast!

So I'm a geek...

And I've been watching all the Star Wars episodes play on Spike this weekend and last weekend. It's the first that I've actually sat and watched the first three, and I loved them. But then came this weekend, and so far I've only watched the IV and V and I'm disappointed. The editor in me just doesn't like the plot problems all over the place after watching the first one. Grrrr. I'm not going to go into it, since I'm sure I'd just end up going on forever. And you really don't want me to do that. LOL Let's just say, anyone else who's watched them all knows exactly what I mean. *sigh*

On other fronts, I've been quiet because I've been pretty down in the dumps about work and everything lately, but I'm better now. =) So I'll come back to the land of living now. And it's about friggin' time, too.

I'll post more tomorrow probably, but now, it's time to go and get dinner ready. I'm hungry! Plus, I'm watching Joe Dirt. Yes, I know it's a retarded movie, but I'm known for liking retarded movies. Elf, Napolean Dynamite, Legally Blonde, etc.

Been in a funk

Yeah, I've kind of been in a funk lately, so I haven't been wanting to be very social, and that includes blogging. I'm starting to come out of it a bit, so I'm peeking out of my hole a little bit. ;P My day job has been horrid lately. I won't go into details, but it's just too busy and I've been really stressed. It feels a teeny bit better this week, so I'm hoping it'll continue on the upward trend. =)

Plus, it's looking like my brother won't be coming back for the wedding, as of right now. The Army is telling him that they're going to send the entire unit back at the same time...the beginning of August. No good! So, yeah, I'm pretty bummed about that. I only get to get married once, and I REALLY want my brother there. *sigh*

Okay, maybe I'll post something more joyful later or tomorrow. It ain't gonna happen right now.

Back in the saddle again

Okay, well, maybe not saddle. Maybe more like Humvee. LOL. My bro is officially in Iraq now. I even got my damn flag back out and put it out on the porch yesterday. I'll post a picture of it later, for those of you who don't know what I'm talking about. Basically, and I don't know if it was created specifically for the War on Terror, but it's to signify that you have a family member overseas and at war. It's a good thing Myles and I didn't make that shadow box for it yet, I guess. Cuz it's something I want to keep for always, and we were going to put it in a shadow box along with some pics of Doug in uniform and some pics of his medals and such.

Nothing else is going on here. I'm getting antsy for it to get warm out. It feels like it never friggin' will. I'm sick of having to wear a jacket and long sleeves. It's amazing how much it changes... In the fall I'm all sorts of ready to get my sweaters out, and now I just want to put them the hell away. LOL

I'm almost all caught up on edits and submissions, though there is more to do right around the corner. There always is. As soon as I get caught up, my workload explodes again...just like it does at my day job.

And on news about my NY Resolutions, I'm back to eating better. I haven't weighed myself in a few weeks, so I'm not sure if I've lost anything, but I've really been eating pretty good and not binging or starving myself. I have to really watch that, since I've struggled with eating disorders my whole life. And nope, I'm not ashamed to admit it. I don't find anything embarrassing about it and I don't think badly of myself because of it. It's part of me and it's something I've worked long and hard to try and control without being on medication, though it's really difficult at times. Plus, there are so many other people out there who suffer from eating disorders, that maybe me talking about it might click with them and make it easier on them, which is by far the most important thing about it to me. Maybe me sharing can help someone else overcome their demons. That would be a realyl good thing. :)
